A cruise in the Caribbean with visits to San Juan, Puerto Rico and St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands was enjoyed by George E. Stanford, machinery repairman third class, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Stanford of Route 3, Bradford while serving aboard the destroyed USS John Hood participating in “Operation Springboard,” Ensign Charles Reed Merritt, USN, son of Charles C. Merritt of Route Two, West Branch, is taking a fire control party course in the Gunfire Support School of the Amphibious Training Command, U.S.
