Sgt. First Class Ed Lane, a former Hillsdale resident now on active duty with the U.S. Army Recruiting Command, has been presented the U.S. Army Gold Recruiting Badge by Ueutenant Colonel Daniel T. Cerone, Lansing District recruiting commander. The award was made for recruiting excellence.”Lane enlisted in the Regular Army from Hillsdale during the Vietnam era. Following active service he remained in the active reserve until 1981 when he voluntarily returned to active duty with the U.S. Army Recruiting Command.He is marned to the former Diane C. Sowle of Osseo and he has four children. He is the son of Mary L. Stock of Hillsdale.line’s other awards include the Army Commendation Medal with Oak Iieaf Cluster, Good Conduct Medal and the Drill Sergeant Identification Badge.Lane is currently assigned to the Kalamazoo U.S. Army Recruiting Station.
