E. Anderson and Nels Nelson responded to the call in Bode. Thursday morning in company with Mayor Pederson W.E. Miller and C W. Riley they filled two autos and went to Fort Dodge to enlist.When they were getting ready to start the “Booster” band came out and rendered sevreal selections and the parochial school children accompanied by their teachers marched down to bid them good bye beneath the big flag on Main stret. It was the intention of the Professor of the public school to have his pupils marc a down but. they wa ited too long on the street before going to school. It was a large patriotic crowd that was out to bid the boys adieu J. G. Han son spoke a few words and called for three cheers which was loudly responded to.The boys on reaching Fort Dodge found that the Iowa Guards were, filled up. Bert Monson Jod Nelson and Grover Sutton took the soldier's examination and joined the army. They will leave next Monday for Denve-, where aftei l'orty-five days drill will proceei. to join some company on the tMexican border.Oluf Rexstad was examined and wli join the navy. Peter Espe de cided that he would wait untii an other call was made for the Iowa troops.C. E.
