Peter J. Tees« iBASYE — Peter Joseph Angwin Tees, 66, of Basye died Saturday in Shenandoah County Memorial Hospital at Woodstock.Mr. Tees was a retired Canadian Army officer who served during World War II as a field artillery lieutenant. After completing flight training, he served in Korea with the Royal Air Force in the 1903 Independent Air Observation Post Flight. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, an honor received by few Canadian Army officers.After serving as a staff officer with the Canadian Embassy in Washington, he retired in the Washington D.C. area and served as marketing representative for Gichner Mobile Systems until December 1987. He recently movedto Bryce.Mr. Tees was born Dec. 21,1922 in Vancouver, British Columbia, and was a son of the late Brigadier Percy Curran and Gertrude Wilmot Angwin Tees,He was married twice. After the death of his first wife, Doris Bryson Tees, he married the former Darlene Kenworthy, who survives.Also surviving are two daughters, Barbara Turner of Woodbridge and Sarah Tees of Falls Church; a son, Sgt. Peter Christopher Tees of Fort Lewis, Wash.; a stepdaughter, Suzanne Knight of Indianapolis, Ind.; a stepson, Jonathan Kenworthy of Basye; and a grandson.The body was cremated. Arrangements were by the Dellinger Funeral Home in Mount Jackson.Friends may reach the family at P.O. Box 323, Bayse.
