I guess I aged quite a bit crossingthat place. It. was plenty hot withartillery fi.ro and the Jerries tried to bomb us day and night, but we poured it to them and I stillsay they can’t stop the First Army!I will never forget that bridgeas long as I live. I've seen some hot places in the past few months but someway or somehow I always make it o. k. We all feel that this is the road home. Tell the Press for me that I’ve made First Sergeant. that I’m all right and expert to be home soon. I am also entitled to wear the Three Bronze Stars, also was awarded the Good Conduct Medal the other day. Tell all the folks at home ‘hello* for me.”
