Long Illness.Greenbury C. Cannon, an old citizen, died about 4 o’clock last Friday at his j home, East Sixth and Main streets, af-1ter a long illness. Aboafc three years j ago, he was stricken by paralysis but recovered sufficiently to be able to get about although with some difficulty.Since then he has suffered several attacks which have greatly enfeebled him. Last evening he began sinking rapidly and passed away this morning.Deceased was born in Georgetown, Ky., seventy-seven years ago. When a young man he located in this city where he has since resided. He leaves four sons, Dr. George C. Cannon and Frank Cannon, of this city; Dr. Kay Cannon, of Louisville, and John Cannon, of Florf ida, and one daughter, Mrs. Richard Brooks, of this city. He also leaves a brother, JHiram Cannon, of Florida.For many years, he was engaged in the wholesale notion business, the firm being Cannon, Hughes Co. It was one of the most successful firms in this city and Mr. Cannon amassed a handsome fortune before he retired from active business life.Deceased^was one of the best known citizens and business men of New Albany. Honest and straightforward in his dealings with his fellow men, he enjoyed their respect and esteem. In the family circle, he was loved as a kind and devoted husband and father and the sympathy of all will be extended to the bereaved family in their affliction.
