Cindy Wentzel marries Alan Michael Crowe Sept. 1 Little Blue River Friends Church was the setting for the lovely summer wedding uniting Cindy Elizabeth Wentzel and Alan Michael Crowe at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 1. The Rev. Marvin L. Jones of ficiated the double ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Robert L. Wentzel and the late Evelyn Wentzel of R.R. 1, St. Paul. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Crowe, R.R. 6, Lake Santee. Two seven-branch candelabra with lighted white candles and bows, greenery and tiers of ferns and floral arrangements were used. The pews were marked with blue satin bows. Hurricane lanterns in blue adorned the stained glass windows. The guest registrar was Laura Hakes. Pianist for the ceremony was Connie Fruchtricht and vocalist was Samantha Shafer. Distributing bulletins was Jared Jones, nephew of the bride. Allison Wentzel and January Holmes, nieces of the bride, were the nice girls. The Junior bridesmaid was Susan Crowe, sister of the groom. She carried two white long-stemmed silk roses with streamers. The maid of honor was Ruth Fruchtricht. Bridesmaids were Dawn Korte and Sandy Williamson. They all wore identical tea-length gowns in light blue giana with pearl accessories, gifts from the bride. Headpieces of layered net with a circle of silk roses and forget-me-nots were worn. They carried baskets with blue silk roses, baby’s breath, greenery and streamers tied in lovers’ knots. The bride was escorted by her father and was lovely in a white satin gown of lace and giana with appliqued pearls. It featured a Queen Anne neckline, soft long sleeves cuffed with lace and satin buttons, and a fitted bodice with an attached ciapel train. She wore a diamond heart-shaped necklace which was a gift from the groom. Her fingertip veil was secured by a narrow brim hat, fashioned in lace and appliqued pearls matching her gown. She carried a Colonial style nosegay of silk roses, baby’s breath and stephanotis, with streamers tied in lovers’ knots, in shades of blue. Daniell Wentzel, niece of the bride, was flower girl, in a long blue dress with a white pinafore. Daniel Jones, nephew of the bride, was the ring bearer. The groom’s best man was his brother, Dennis Crowe. The groomsmen were Tom Crowe, brother of the groom, Chris Hakes of Indianapolis and Cliff Heidorn of Terre Haute. The groom wore a white tuxedo and the groomsmen wore navy blue tuxedoes. All had silk white rose and blue lapel flowers. The mother of the groom wore a street-length dress in pale blue with pearl accessories. She had a corsage of silk roses in shades of blue. Serving as ushers were Kevin Keusch and Steve Hale, college friends. Grandparents attending were Mr. and Mrs. Lester Cornwell and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Crowe. Mrs. Lillian Williams, great grandmother of the groom, attended the ceremony. The bride presented white silk long-stemmed roses with lace to her father and the groom’s mother during the ceremony. A reception followed in the Fellowship Hall where a three-tiered cake with white and pale blue icing was served. The cake was decorated with roses and a fountain of blue water, and stairways led from the large cake to heart-shaped cakes on each side. Punch, mints and nuts were served. Blue candles and bows decorated the mantel and serving table. Servers were Karen Veerkamp and Karen Bullard. They wore white aprons and had shaded blue rose corsages, gifts of the bride. Following a wedding trip the couple is at home at 50 Willard St., Apt. S-320 Hartford, Conn., 06105. The bride graduated from North Decatur High School in 1982, at tended Indiana State University for two years and will continue her college education at the University of Connecticut. The groom graduated from North Decatur High School in 1980, and from Indiana State University in 1984. He is employed as an Actuary with Aetna Life and Casualty In surance Company of Hartford, Conn.
