Smith Are Wed in Gethsemane ChurchA candlelight ceremony was held in Gethsemane Lutheran Church to solemnize the marriage1 of Janet Sharon Langenfeld, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Byron J. Langenfeld, 722 Orchard St., to Peter William Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Waldo S. Smith, Portland, Maine. The Rev. Karl Wilhelm-sen read the service at 7 p.m. on Sept. 20.The nuptial rites preceded a reception in the church parlors to honor the bridal couple before they left on a wedding trip to Niagara Falls and on to Syracuse, N.Y., where they will make their home. The bridegroom, national chairman of College Young Republicans, will attend the Graduate School at the University of Syracuse.Given in marriage by her father, the bride appeared in a Chantilly lace gown which featured a modified scoop neck-i line with flower lace appliqueaccented by seed pearls. 'Pleated tulle formed a duster j ruffle on the floor length bouf-|fant skirt which was gathered to a basque waistline.! Alencon lace applique and •seed pearl trim highlighted the |juliet cap holding the bride’s fingertip French illusion veil. A white orchid was centered in I her cascade bouquet of ste-jphanotis. She wore a strand of -pearls given to her as a child by her paternal grandmother.Attendants to the bride were •Marie Hansen of Westbrook,I Maine, as maid of honor; Shar-i on Petersen of Lincoln, Neb.,I as bridesmaid; and Mary Jane Clausen of Racine as junior | bridesmaid. Their identical gowns were coral horsehair!; lace over matching taffeta fashioned in bouffant ballerina skirts caught to basque waistlines and featuring velvet bows' accenting taffeta inserts in back. The bows were repeated; to highlight the portrait necklines and the divided sleeves.iVelverav flowers and leaves*dotted with pearls formed their j i matching coronet headbands which held blush veils.
