For some years she has spent most of her time in Europe. She is one of the richest of the American heiresses, and has received many ofters of marriage from men of title, including a Prince, but refused them all. She is not fond of society or society functions, but is an excellent musician, playing the violin with much skill. She is_also fond of athletic sports. Miss Goddard is to return here the latter part of this month, and her wedding will take place, doubtless In Providence, her native city, in November.Col. Goddard, who is tjie Democratic nominee for the Rhode Island Senator-ship. sailed for Europe on Aug. 20. and on his arrival there the betrothal ceremony took place, at the .Chateau Monet, the home of the Marquis' near SanMor, In Anjou. The Marquis is the son of the late Gen. Marquis d'Andigne, and was born in London when his father was attached to the French Embassy in tiiat city. He has valuable estates in Southern France, and his fad is the breeding of thoroughbred stock.
