eldora girl marries,Mabel C.f Daufjhtcr of Mnrk W, Moir, Weds In 1 Kansas-—Takes Friends by Surprise. 1The following from the Marion (Kansas) Record will bof more than passing interest to the Eldora friends of the bride. The young lady is the youngest daughter of Mark W. Moir, a former postmaster of Eldora and ,treasurer of Hardin county. The Herald wishes to join with many others! in extending the most hearty congrats ulations to the happy and worthy young couple. Mrs. W. J. Moir and Mrs. George Brooks, grandmother and I sister of the bride, of Eldora, were present at the wedding:“Married, in Abilene, Saturday evening, August 20,1906, by the Probate Judge of Dickinson county, Ralph Powers, of Marion, and Mable 0, Moir, of Eldora, Iowa.If ever a couple surprised their friends by getting married these young people certainly did, not even the im-1mediate families knew anything of the affair until after the ceremony.palph is the only son of Mr. John Powers, and is a splendid young man. He is employed in the Scully agency, of which his father is manager,Miss Moir is the daughter of M. W. Moir, of Eldora, Iowa, and has been helping her father, who is working on the tax lists of this county, since thefirst of April, She is a charming young woman and has made many friends here, especially among the young people.The happy pair returned to Marion, Monday afternoon, and were met at the train by nearly all of the “young crowd” of the city, headed by the band, When the bridal pair got off the train they were showered with rice.’ They were not allowed to ride uptown i but were compelled to head the pro-r I cession and walk to the Elgin, follow-I ed by the band and the young folks s who jollied them all the way.'
