ACCREDITED TO RELIGION,The Marriage of Louisa Sherer and Rudolph Diekman Temporarily Postponed.Last Monday Rudolph Diekman pro* cured marriage license to wed Miss Lou* isa Sherer, residing in the rear of the bank building located on Main street and the alley between State and Pearl streets. They were to be married on the same evening, but Miss Sherer being a member of the German Catholic church and Diekman’s parents Lutheran, it was deemed advisable to hear from the Bishop of this dioeese before the marriage took place. A letter was received by the girl’s pareuts from the bishop, sanctioning it, and the wedding was to have eome off last night. In the meantime Diekman’s parents objected to the nnion on account of the different families’ religions beliefs, and, it is said, used their influence to break the engagement. This, it is said, they partly succeeded in doing, and it was finally determined to destroy the license, which action was unknown to the girl nntil Tuesday, she went to Diekman’s residence, where she demanded to know the cause of such proceedings, and the giTl sayB she could get no satisfaction, bat was about to be pounced upon by Diekman’s brother.Miss Louisa stiti maintains the high- j est appreciation for her betrothed, andsays that she is perfectly willing to get married,’ provided he comes and makes amende honorable for his conduct toward her. They have been acquainted for four years and she never regarded him other than a gentleman.
