Smoot, a prominent young attorney of this city, surprised his friends today by announcing his marriage to Miss Beatrice Clark, a charming young lady of Sugarland with whom he had been keeping company for some time.Mr. Smoot informed his friends that he was going to spend the day at High Rock, but instead he and Miss Clark boarded a west bound B. O. S. W. train that afternoon and went to Law-renceville, 111., where they were married, returning to Washington on the early morning train.Mr. Smoot is one of the rising young democratic lawyers of Washington and is a very clever gentleman. He has served as truant officer and is known throughout the county. His bride is a popular young lady who lias been making her home-for several 3-ears with Mr. and Mrs. J110. S. Agan in Sugarland.The young couple will make their home in Washington.Mr. George Francis Kramer and Miss Ella Ena Axtell were quietl}7 wedded at (i o’clock this morning at the home of the bride’s parents in the eastern part of the city. The ceremony was performed by Rev. C. W. Stewart,pastor of the Presbyterian church, in the presence of only the immediate relatives. There were no attendants.After the ceremony breakfast was served and the happr young couple was then taken to the B. O. S. W. depot where they hoarded a train for Cincinnati. The}7 will spend their honeymoon in Cincinnati, Cleveland and other cities and will return to Washington in ten days.The groom is a son of Louis Kramer and is head salesman in the carpet de partment of the Cahel Kauffman j Mercantile Company’s stores. He is a hustling young business man and has mauy friends. The bride is the only ! daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J.' Axtell, She is a graduate of the Washington public schools and is an accom-j plished and and highly respectel lady.
