Sepl. 10, 1970 Page 3CHS Boosters to meet players Wednesday nightMRSJERRY RAY WOODSPhoto by Buenger of CoronadoThe Coronado High School Adult Booster Club is sponsoring a “Meet The Player’s Night” at Cutler Field, on Wednesday, September 16, at 7:30 p.m.The purpose of the evening is to introduce the High School Varsity and Junior Varsity football teams for 1970, and familiarize the community with these young men. The program is open to the public and everyone is | invited to attend.The program will open with a welcome by high school representative Dick Satterlee. Tex Houston, Booster club president, will tell a bit about the Booster Club and Head Football Coach, Gene Greene, will introduce the players and conduct demonstrations of plays and drills. The Varsity and Junior Varsity cheerleaders will be on hand to add to the atmosphere of the evening.The first meeting of the Booster Club was held on August 31. A general meeting is being planned for early October. Parents of all boys and girls participating in sports this year are urged to attend.A membership table will be set up on “Meet The Player’s Night” for anyone interested in joining the Adult Booster Club.MISS CATHERINE BASSETTWEDS JERRY RAY WOODSMiss Catherine Crellin Bassett and Jerry Ray Woods were wed in a ceremony officiated by Chaplain Robert L. Trett at the Galilee Chapel, Naval Air Station, North Island, September 6. White gladioli was used as floral decorations in the chapel.The bride is the daughter of Capt. Leonard Flournoy Bassett, USH (ret.) and Mrs. Bassett of 835 Alameda Boulevard. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. It Woods of Parsons, Kansas. fThe bride, who was given in marBage by her father, wore a gowfl of imported embroidered silk organza with cap sleeves, portrait neckline and a train of organza edged with the same embroidery. The same sixpence that her mother wore was carried in her shoe. The bride wore a diamond pendant belonging to her grandmother. The bridal bouquet was of white butterfly orchids and stephanotis.Matron of honor was Mrs. AI-vah J. Miller, sister of the bride, from Berkeley. Mrs. Miller wore a gown of light blue with puff sleeves and portrait neckline and was worn with a sash of darker blue with embroidered flowers. She carried a nosegay of yellow and white mums.Best man was Robert J. Tavares.A small and intimate reception for family and close friends was held in the patio and garden at the Bassett home. Arrangements of yellow and white and gold mums with yellow and white carnations were used on the bridal table. Mrs. Bassett wore a seafoam silk faille ensemble with rhinestone buttons and white accessories.The bride chose a traveling suit of green linen with embroidered daisies for an undisclosed wedding trip. The couple will reside in El Cajon. The former Miss Bassett is a graduate of Coronado High School an^ of the University of Santa Barbara. Woodsgraduated from Labette CountyHigh School in Parsons, Kansas, vied twelve years in theHe servil Navy and now plans on attending Grossmont College.Baer consumption increasesPer capita beer consumption in California last year was 17.7 gallons, a post-prohibition high, and up from 17 gallons in 1968.Holy Name Society slates breakfastThe Holy Name Society of Sacred Heart Church will open its 1970-1971 season with a breakfast meeting in the Parish Hall following the 8 a.m. Mass on September 13.The event will honor Past Presidents of the Society and introduce the new slate of officers.
