White satin pew bows and an altar arrangement of white gladioli and foliage decorated the sanctuary of the First Presbyterian Church for the recent marriage of Miss Sherry Snow, daughter of Mrs. John Snow and the late Mr. Snow, to Francis L. Dempsey Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis L. Dempsey Sr.The wedding was performed by the Rev. Bliss B. Cartwright, Sheboygan, Wis., former pastor of the church, and the Rev. Joseph Linster of St. Patrick’sCatholic Church. Vocal selections by Paul Katner were accompanied by Miss Alice Thomson, organist.Lace GownThe bride, given in marriageby her brother, Roger W. Snow, was attired in a gown of white Chantilly lace trimmed with iridescent sequins and seed pearls. The gown’s floor-length skirt was fashioned with a sheer front panel, side tiers of lace over satin and a chapel train, and the fitted bodice was designed with a high neckline and Victorian sleeves. A contoured headpiece of lace held her tiered illusion veil, and she carried a single long-stemmed white rose with a lace and satin covered Bible.Miss Judy Hemberger, Hillside, was her sorority sister’s maid of honor, and attendants were Mrs. Michael Doyle, Indianapolis, Ind., and Miss Marsha McKeon, Oaklawn, also sorority sisters of the bride, and Miss Karen Jensen,Dixon.Their full-length empire gowns of rose-petal pink, designed with capelet sleeves, appliqued necklines and court trains, were complemented by pink ribbon headdresses. MissHemberger carried a longstemmed white rose, and the attendants carried pink roses.Miss Kimberly Shehorn and Miss Dina Dempsey, nieces of the bridegroom, participated asflower girls and wore ruffle-trimmed frocks of pink taffetaoverlaid with pink rose-printed organza. Pink Sweetheart roses formed their headpieces, and they carried miniature whitebaskets filled with pink rose petals.David Dempsey attended the bridegroom as best man, and acting as groomsmen were William Snow, Ronald Wilky and Donald Shehorn. Wedding guests were ushered by James Rogers, Polo, and Steven Reuter, and serving as ring-bearers were Bradley Berg-quist, Rockford, and Michael Shehorn.ReceptionThe Dixon Elks Club was the setting for a reception following the ceremony when the bride’s table held a centerpiece of white carnations and pink roses. A decorated wedding cake was served by Mrs. Kurt Bergquist, Rockford, sister of the bride, as punch and coffee were poured by Miss Mary Lorke, Sterling, and Mrs. Ronald Willey, and gifts for the couple were displayed by Miss Nancy Lancaster and Mrs. James Williams, Sterling. In charge of the guest book was the bride’s sister, Miss Susan Snow, Rockford.A Dixon High School graduate, the bride graduated cum laude in 1974 at Northern Illinois University, where she received a B. A. degree in sociology. A member of Kappa Kappa Gamma social sorority and Alpha Kappa Delta sociology honor society, she plans to become a social worker.Mr. Dempsey, also a graduate of Dixon High School, is employed as a carpenter for the Dempsey Construction Company, and they have been residing at 510 S. Dixon Ave., Dixon, since their return from a wedding trip to the Penn Hills Honeymoon Resort in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania.
