Arthur Charles Hughes Knight of the Order of St. SylvesterFounded by Pope Gregory XVI,on October 31, 1841, to recognizet h e worthiness of zealous laymen,the Knighthood of St. Sylvester is bestowed on Arthur C Hughes.In the citation for this award it is stated of Arthur C. Hughes: “He is uneaual in his zeal for souls.Singlehandedly he has brought dozens of converts into the Church. No Catholic activity or cause finds him anything but a zealous, active, understanding cooperator. He commands a respect unequalled in the community\Arthur C. Hughes is a convert, baptized in his twentieth year, andconfirmed on Ar )ril 17, 1014 by Bishop Joseph Patrick Lynch, lie has never married.
