She received her education X Birmingham-Southern College' Where she was a popular member of Kappa Delta Sorority. Both her motner and father are from Lynchburg, Va., and are representativesof the distinguished Virginia families of Carrington, Moseiy, Venableand Friend.Like his fiancee, Mr. Armstrong is a member of prominent Southern families, his forbears on both sides having been persons of distinction.He is a great-great-nephew of the Rev. William Armstrong of Virginia, members of whose family were rectors of the EpiscopalChurch 100 years. Mr. Armstrong’s \ father, the late Ira L. Armstrong, was one of Birmingham’s most be- rj loved citizens. On the maternal*tide, he is descended from the South Carolina Cothrans and Wi Smiths and is a great-nephew of en Judge James S. Cothran of the nil Supreme Court of South Carolina and of Major Charles H.
