Golden Wedding Couple and AttendantsWhen Mr. and Mrs. Charles Sampson of this city celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Tuesday by renewing their wedding vows at a mass at the St. Joseph’s church, they were attended by Patsy Hennessey (right) and Mrs. Josephine Aaron (second from right) who were their attendants 50 years ago here. Mr. and Mrs. Sampson are shown on the left.Bridesmaid, Best Man Here to Help in CelebrationMr. and Mrs. Charles Sampson, early residents of thiB city, Tuesday celebrated their golden wedding annivrsary by renewing their wedding vows at an 8o’clock mass at the St. Joseph’s church • and by having open house for their many friends and relatives. Among the outside1 guests were Mrs. JosephineAaron of Chicago, who was the! original bridesmaid for t h o Icouple, and Patsy Hennessey of Sturtevant, Wis., the original best man.The Sampsons were the recipients of many gold pieceB, flowor3 and messages of congratulations. At noon the outside guests were entertained at dinner at the SarapBon home on Cottage street.Mr. Sampson, a native of Maine, born February 14, 1852, came to Sturgeon Bay In 1872. arriving April 17. Ho was cn his way to San Francisco buc stopped to visit two uncles and an aunt and his brother who had already settled here. Receiving work, however, Mr. Sampson decided to remain and has been here ever since. He followed various occupations until 1908 iwhen he became janitor of the j Sturgeon Bay public school, position he held until he retired in 1920.Mrs. Sampson was born DePere March 20, ■ 1862, and came here at the age of six with her parents, John and Ida Houle, to make her permanent real dence. Mr. and Mrs. Sampson were married by Father Blume of the St. Joseph’s church September 1, 1881.Four children are in the family, Mrs. Nancy Hatch of Green Bay, Bernard of Cedarburg, Edward of Kenosha and Mrs. Morio Dufek of Los Angeles. E. Hatch and daughter Dorothy, of Green Bay; and Mrs. Josephine Aaron, of Chicago. Bernard Jr. and Glenn Sampson acted as servers at the golden wedding mass.
