Corona—Not So HotDespite the fact that the mercury i» hovering around close to the hundred mark today and the breeze which is blowing feels like the wafting heat of a furnace, yet it is not so hot, and Coronans ought to keen cool when they hear from W. S. Houston. Believe It or not, but Mr, and Mrs. Houston and their son Will Fm are spending their summer vacation in Corona for one purpose alone, and that is to enjoy the comfortable weather. Today, they remark, the weather is quite enjoyable, not a bit warm. When this family is home, they reside at Death Valley Junction and this summer, as they have for some fourteen years, spent their vacation period dawn in this section. They are the. guests at theranch home of Fred Grotzing-I or, wet of Corona, and plan■ to return on SeptemWr 14.j Mr. Houston Ih connectedwith the Pacific Coast Borax j company, which operates I largely in the Death Valleycountry. Now conies the story which ought to throw a couple of shivers into Coronaon a day like this. Mr.■*Houston stales that he has seen the thermometer rcgis-; ter five degrees above zero, !! to 135 degrees alwve, andthat in the sliade. Those two extremes have Wen checked by the Corona visitors during the past fourteen years. No rain has fallen in two years at the home- of the Houston's, and the rainfall is spotted, averaging about two inches.
