Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Mark GalesIWilkens-Gates wed indouble ringNAUVOO, 111. - Miss Barbara Ellen Wilkens, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Wilkens of Nauvoo, became the bride of Dallas Mark Gates, son of Mrs. Carrie Gates, and the late Dallas Gates II of Keokuk, in a double ring ceremony on Aug 14 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Nauvoo. Father Thomas Fahey officiated at the 2 p.m. nuptial mass. The offeratory gifts were presented by the bride’s god parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Blindt of West Burlington. Barb Covey was the organist and accompanied Mrs. Lynn Kimble who was the vocalist. Dan Wilkens and Joe Sullivan served as altar boys. Tom Benjamin was the lector.The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor length gown of white organza over taffeta styled with an empire waist, sheer yoke, high-neck, short double capelet sleeves and a full skirt that flowed into a i chapel length train, all edged with embroidered daisy lace. Herceremonyelbow length veil of silk illusion, edged with matching lace, fell from a Camelot cap. She carried a cascade of white daisies and baby’s breath tied with long white streamers.Mary Ann Wilkens was her sister’s maid of honor. Sharee Duminel served as bridesmaid. Vickie Wilkens, sister of the bride, was a junior bridesmaid. Tammy Marshall, the groom’s niece, was the flower girl.Douglas Nickel served as best man. Don Johnson and Jay Cook were the groomsmen. Joe Wilkens, the bride’s brother and Bill Parmeter seated the guests Frankie Blindt, the bride’s cousin, carried the ringsThe groom’s grandmother, Mrs Amy Gates of Keokuk, was also among the guests.Immediately following the ceremony, a reception was held in the Sts. Peter and Paul school gym. Terry Bolton was in charge of the guest book. Suann Marshal and Kathy Gates, the groom's sisters, cut and served the fourtiered wedding cake. Others assisting at the reception were Debbie Stevenson, Martha Day, Dianne Haas and Peggy Manka.After a wedding trip to the Ozarks, the couple will make their home at 618Vfc Bank Street.The rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom's mother, Mrs. Carrie Gates, at the Fountain Supper Club in Keokuk.Miss Gates was graduated from St Mary’s Academy in 1972 and the University of Iowa in 1976 Mr Gates was graduated in 1971 from Keokuk Senior High School and from Southeastern Community College in 1976.
