XT INDIANA U.Miss Doris Richards, assistant professor of music at Indiana University, is the new acting director of the I.u. Black Music Center.Miss Richards, amative of Winchester, Ky., has done fall of her college work at the University of Michigan, where she has earned bachelor's and master's- degrees and is now working toward a doctorate in education. A member of Sigma Alpha IoCa, Pi Lambda Theta,^nd tftfe National Association of Jazz Educators, she was assistant professor of music education at Wayne State University. Detroit, before coming to I.U. in 1971.Miss Richards plans to use the enlarged staff of the CenCer, she remarked to point the ohganization in new directions that will go beyond the purely bibliographical areas that have been its .principal involvement unlit now. In addition to finishing tbo current publication projects, wp hope to/involve more ’ students and the black community at large.
