Many states provide such homes, but Connecticut, w'hile providing a model home for the veteran, the wife, possibly unable to care for herself, goes to the only home as yet provided for her—the almshouse. Whitaker, 122 Kimberly avenue.TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENT WORKSWELLBetween the Consolidated and theLackawranna Roads.The following has just been issued bythe Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad company from its passenger department:That the traffic arrangement recently entered into between the New7 York, New Haven and Hartford railroad and the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western railroad for interchange of freight traffic to and from New England and the w'est is proving -^tisfactory to both companies is shown by the large volume of business already being handled via this route, even though opened up only two months since.The remarkably good time schedules w’hich these roads are making on merchandise freight to the west, and w'here-by less than carload, as well as carload freight from New Haven territory, isbeing delivered to destination at Chicago and St. Louis in four days’ time, has been a feature which has bontrib-uted largely to success, particularly in large movement of high-class traffic.This was made possible by the revision and careful planning of schedules by the operating and traffic officials of the two companies and by an arrangement whereby the Lackawanna brings its western less than carload freight from twelve to fifteen near-by stations, such as Newark, Paterson, etc., adjacent to its Hoboken station, to Hoboken. where it is consolidated over the transfer platform at that point into through cars to all principal western points and receiving centers, such as Scranton, Binghamton. Elmira, Buffalo. Cleveland, Detroit. Chicago and St. Ivouis.All freight from the New Haven road is delivered to the Lackawanna at Hoboken daily at the noon hour by special floats, and the less than carloadshipments are immediately transferred
