CELEBRATE ANNIVERSARY.* ►Interesting Event Occurred at the Home of Mr. and Mrs. James Maitland, Formerly of Sycamore, NowiResidents Of LaPlata, Mo.Their many friends and acquaintances in Sycamore where they have resided most of their years, will be interested in the following in regard to Mi*, and Mrs. James Maitland, from the LaPlata, (Mo.) Republican:The Maitland home was the scene of a splendid fraternal and social gathering last Saturday evening. It was the forty-second wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Maitland and the members of the Methodist Episcopal church gathered to honor and commemorate with them the happy fevent of 42 years ago. A surprise was planned and splendidly carried out.The pastor, Rev. J. L. Bilby, sent for theui to come to the parsonage on church work, and at 7:30, in their absence, 110 or more members gathered at the home to greet jbhem on their return. Words were entirely inadequate to express Brother and Sister Mait-9land’s surprise, delight and appreciation of the respect, esteem and love expressed for them by the large num- • ber present. After greetings and congratulations,' Rev. Bilby, in a few appropriate words, in behalf of the church, presented Mr. and Mrs. Maitland with a beautiful silver cake-%stand.. A splendid social hour followed, after which refreshments were served. A marked feature of the gathering was the beautiful spirit of comradship and brotherly love that pervaded the entire evening and which proved to Mr. and Mrs. Maitland, also to all present, that‘tf*he members of the LaPlata church Seould and did love one another.At a Hate hour all departed wishing Mr. and ICrs.
