County Where They Number Their a | Friends by the Scores.sd|Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Grantham quietly celebrated their fifty-seventh wedding s ■ anniversary yesterday at their home I near this city. At the Shaffer home-: stead two miles north of Delphi on Oct. S I 25, 1855, Rachael A. Shaffer and Joseph d C. Grantham, both of whom were born ! in this county, were united in marriage.| After their marriage, they moved to the 1 farm, in Adams township, where they s I have since resided. The farm was at that *, I time owned by his father who bought e j the 163 acres from the man who entered ». I the land. To this union, four children ;f i were born, three daughters and one ,s { son. One daughter died in infancy, one d at Jhe age of 15 years and the third died not long after her marriage to Wilson Coble. The son, Lewis Grantham, resides near the home-place. During all these years of their married life, the Grantham house has been a rendezvous for orphan girls, no less than fifteen having been reared to womanhood by this couple, and it is one of the greatest comforts of their declining years that all these waifs developed into good, true women.Mr. Grantham is in his eightieth year and his good wife is a few years younger. They have seen many changes during their long and useful lives.
