Colion will be pleased to btar of their marriage. This is an event which has been aeticipated for the past year or more. Ihe ceremony occurred at Kansas City, Mo., Thuruav, Oct. 11, and they left for the Pacific coast and will spend four monthsj{ a be nevmoon tour in California, after which they will return to Evan6ton, 111., and be at home to their friends after Feb. 15th.The tride is a young lady of fine intellectual attainments and was a former teacher in the University of this city. Quite early in the spring she was taken sick with a nervous trouble and wai forced to give up her work in the University and went to a health resort in the hope of securing relief. She returned again to her duties at the University but was again forced to stop work and look more closely after her health. Miss Quigg made many friends in Mitchell during her residenoe here for her many fine qualities as a lady of refinement and her endowment in an educational way. There is hardly a person iD the city but who knows Mr. Colton. This young man came to Dakota about five years ago and by a determined effort, with many sacrifices, made his way through college, graduating in 1898. During his college career Mr. Colton was a BtroDg leader in the matter of the Y. M. C. A. society and was laying the foundation at that time for the work he was to take up in the future. About a year ago he was appointed to the position of secretary of the student college Y. M. C. A. in Illinois, a position that he was eminently fitted to fill and in which he ha6 more than met the expectations of his friends. His territory is practically unlimited and be works over a wide field. Colton, we believe, has the making of a great man in his chosen work, for his heart is in it and thatgoes a long way toward the goal he attains. There has hardly b$eo a young man at the college who had the great liking of his fellow stu-dents as bad.Colton and the victories he won in the oratorical contests and on the athletic field made him all the dearer to them. The Republican wants to extend its hearty congratulations to Mr. and Mrs Colton on their union and trusts that much happiness may be meted out to them, for they will deserve all that comes to them.TWO BIG POPS IN A DEAL.Pettigrew ami Lien Are Trying to
