Cain, both of this city, were united in marriage Saturday noon, October 12, in Galesburg, at the residence of Dr, T. E. New!and. Dr. Newland is former pastor of Galesburg First Methodist church, retiring this year after serving the Galesburg charge during the past three years.The bride was attired in a blue crepe du chien dress, with accessories to match.Mrs. Cain has been a resident of Gal-va during the past 32 years, coming here from Peoria, and since that time made her home here on Northeast First street with her father, the late DeWitt lt;* Coates, Galva’s last surviving veteran of the Civil war, until he passed away in September last year. She is a sister of Mrs. Frank G. Larson, of this city.Mr. Cain came to Galva 42 years ago from the Isle of Man, spending the greater part of his time in the tailoring, laundry and dry cleaning business. He originally opened laundry business here 36 years ago at the rear of the building now occupied by First National Bank in Galva and this was the first establishment of its kind in Galva. Later he was employed by Galva Steam Laundry and a few years ago opened a cleaning and pressing establishment in the Jones building on North Exchange street. Mr. Cain has been unusually active in Galva I. O. O. F. and Encampment lodges.Following their marriage Saturday the couple left for Long Beach, California, where they plan to remain indefinitely with a sister of the bride, Mrs. T. J. Boyd, 29 West Louise street. They boarded the Aristocrat, Burlington train No. 9 at Galesburg, arriving hi Denver Sunday afternoon, from where they continued on to California by way of Salt Lake City. They arrived in Long Beach Tuesday afternoon.
