rCOUPLE ARRESTED ON DISTURBANCE CHARGE PROTEST TREATMENTw\hoiGe| Freda Walker and V. Rowbot-tom, who were arrested yesterday on a peace disturbance charge by Sheriff H. G. Cline, when they were alleged to have created a disturbance In County Recorder’s office, were released on $100 bond each when they were taken before MagistrateA. R, Dunn yesterday, Theirhearing on the charge was set for October 24.Yesterday’s article regarding the arrest was disputed by Miss Walker and Mr. Rowbottom. In statements they said they went to the Recorder’s office to seek 1 | information regarding securing a marriage license, that they understood they would have to undergo certain procedure be-p I fore being granted a license, . i and that they went there to Inei s find out just exactly what they ™ l would be able to do regarding hc I compliance. They denied start-ing a disturbance except to de- ~ mand their rights to said in- d0r I formation. ouRegarding events leading to 301 their arrest by Sheriff Cline, |wl n I Miss Walker stated she at first n I did not know he was an officer and the incident in which she 11u was alleged to have slapped the 1™ sheriff occurred before arrest l, | was mentioned, and that it wasthe result of her resentment at the treatment which they were . being accorded. Hollenbeck, Towanda, Pa., and to Victor L. Rowbottom and Frieda M. Walker, both of Neosho.Magistrate A. R. Dunn performed the marriage ceremony for Miss Walker and Rowbottom in his offices this morning.
