Saturday, October 14, 1989 The Herald — 3Shafers to celebrate 50 yearsPaul and Bcda Shafer, 1361 Dutch Hollow Rd., Lima, will be celebrating their golden wedding anniversary with an open house 2-4 p.m. Oct. 22 at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Edwin (Joanne) Reese, Edgewood Estate, 1607 Northbrook Dr., Lima. A dinner for the immediate family will be Oct. 21 at the Old Bam Out Back Restaurant, Lima.Mr. Shafer and the former Beda Grace Goodwin of Columbus Grove were married Oct. 30,1939, at Congregational Christian Church, Columbus Grove, by the Rev. Warren Tuttle.Mr. Shafer is retired from Shafers Meat Markets, Lima, and Lima Register.Mrs. Shafer was a music teacher and nursing and dietary supervisor at St. Rita’s Medical Center. She is retired from Lima Convalescent Home.The couple have three children, Ronald Shafer of Painesville, William Shafer of Arcadia and Mrs. Edwin (Joanne) Reese of Lima. They also have 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A son, Sgt. James D. Shafer is deceased.The couple asks that gifts be omitted.MR. and MRS. PAUL SHAFER
