IMiss Janice Hackbarth Weds Ens. John C. GobelIn a 4:30 o’clock wedding September 18, Miss Janice Adele Hackbarth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert K. Hackbarth, 404 W. Hawthorne st., Arling ton Heights, became the bride of Ens. John Charles Gobel, son of Mrs. Charles H. Gcbel, Downey. Cal., at First Presbyterian church, Arlington Heights.The Rev. C. Victor Brown officiated. Mrs. Dan Califf, matron of honor, wore a peacock green ballerina dress and carried a colonial bouquet of pink roses and white carnations. Miss Linda Hackbarth, sister of the bride, served as bridesmaid. She wore a light green ballerina dress and also carried a colonial bouquet of red roses and white carnations.Dressed in an ivory taffeta dress, the flower girl. Miss Sally Mullen, 6-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Mullen of Skokie, scattered rose petals as she prededed the bride She wore a circlet of flowers in her hair to match those of the other attendants.Wearing an ivory Battenburg lace wedding gown with a fingertip veil, the bride was escorted by her father. She carried a colonial bouquet of stephanotis and chrysanthemums. The 50-year-old gown belongs to Mrs. George Adam, an aunt of the bride.Best man was Dan Califf of Carthage, and Dennis Hackbarth, brother of the bride, and Alfred ! Hackbarth, cousin of the bride,! served as ushers. Earle Auge sang | “A Wedding Prayer” and “Perfect Love.”Mrs. Hackbarth wore a powder blue taffeta dress with matching hat. Mrs. Gobel wore a cocoa taffeta dress with black accessories. Both mothers had white orchid corsages.After the ceremony, a reception for 60 relatives and close friends was held in the garden of the bride’s aunt, Miss Gertrude Adam, at 304 E. Euclid st. Out-of-town guests included Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Adam, Kurt and Miles, of Appleton, Wis. and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Streeter and Tom of Port Huron, Mich.Immediately following the reception, Ens. and Mrs. Gobel flew to Los Angeles. After a honeymoon in San Francisco, the couple will be at home at 7803 E. Kingbee st., Downey, Cal. Ens, Gobel is now stationed at Long Beach aboard the U.S.S. Menifee.The groom graduated from U.C. L.A. where he majored in business education. His bride studied journalism at the University of Illinois. The couple attended Arlington Heights Township high school.
