Am born, Davenport, Iowa, read the double ring ceremony in Sacred Heart church at 5:30 p. m Friday, October 12, the wedding aniversary of the bride’e parents, Mr. ad Mrs. Walter E. Gerdes, 2507 Avenue L. The bridegroom, a resident of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is the son of Mrs. Eva Pumarlo, 4127 Thomas Avenue North, Min neapolis, Minn. An artistic arrangement of candelbra and white chrysanthemums beautified the sanctuary.Ave Maria” by Schubertsung by Mary Neadermiller preceding the service. The Wedding Processional by Stultz and the Recessional by Kreckei were played by Sister M. Philippine.BrideMr. Gerdes gave his daughter in marriage. Her gown of white satin was styled with sweetheart bodice. Narrow lace ruffling edged the high necked marquisette yoke and the wrists of the long fitted sleeves. The skirt, ending in a long train, was draped in front to reveal a lace ruffled underskirt. Her fingertip veil fell from a Juliet cap embroidered with seed pearls. She wore fatching satin slippers and carried a shower bouquet of a white orchid surrounded by foline and shattered white chrysanthemums.Miss Doris Gerdes w-as her sister’s maid of honor. Gowned in pale green taffeta with elbow length sleeves, shirred sweetheart bodice, and net overskirt, she wore a dark green velvet cap and matching gloves. Her flowers were a cascade bouquet of red pompon chrysanthemums.Bridesmaids were Miss Florence McMains, city, Mrs. H. Lyle Long, Denver, Colo., Mrs.* J. Robert Perney, Topeka. Kan., and Miss Jackie Kudje, Maosn City, IowTa. Gowned in pale blue taffeta fashioned similarly to that of the maid of honor, they wore du-bonnet velvet gloves and Juliet caps with matching veils. Their bl uemuffs were garlanded with red pompon chrysanthemums.For her daughter’s wedding, Mrs. Gerdes chose a dove gray dress, a hat of Alix jersey in heliotrope, and matching gloves. Mrs. Pumarlo wore a two piece dark brown dress with matching hat, veil, and accessories. They wore orchids.The bridegroom, his best man, his brother, Clifford E. Pumarlo, Minneapolis, and ushers, Don Super. Ed Allender, Phil Falken-stein, city, and Orin Gumbrill, Minneapolis, nephew of the bridegroom, wore brown suits with white carnation boutonnieres.ReceptionA reception at the Gerdes home followed the ceremony. E. entertained past presidents and members at a 1 o’clock luncheon Thursday, Oct. 11, in the K of C hall. Floral arrangements decorated the tables, and place cards at the guest table, at which the 11 past presidents were seated, included the dates of the presidency of each.President Blanche Parre presented gifts to the honor guests and introduced her daughter, Lt. Pauline Parre, ANC, who spoke of her overseas experiences. Brief talks were also made by the past presidents.During the regular meeting, Jessie Marsh, past president, presided. Other offices were filled by Past Presidents Jessie Spink, Agnes Bohner, Effie Woodworth, Maggie Bellew, Alice Head, Elva Smith, Cinda Cuilum, Retta Kipp, Fern Sweezer, and Ruby Campbell.The kitchen commitee was Alida Schirk, Ellen White, and Iva Stevenson. Gelsthorpe, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Gelsthorpe, 3033 Avenue H, at 10:30 a. m. Saturday, Oct. 6. The Rev. Ralph E. Salzwedel read the single ring ceremony in the parsonage of the Baptist church, Alexandria, Mo.The bride wore white wool with black accessories. She was attended by her friend, Eloyce Washburn, in blue wool jersey with black accessories.The bridegroom’s best man was his brother, James E. Gelsthorpe.The bride is a graduate of the Fort Madison high school, the bridegroom of the Finger high school, Chicago, 111.After a trip to Kansas City, Mo., the couple will reside at 1104 Avenue F. A crystal bowl flanked by four tall white tapers in matching crystal holders, held the white floral centerpiece. Tapers in the bride’s colors in flat silver holders, surrounded by smilax, blue bells, and buttom mums and tied with white satin, graced the ends of the long, linen covered table. Matching chair slip covers completed the dinner setting.The bride, a Fort Madison high Bchol alumna, attended the Iowa University and is a member of the Theta Epsilon and Beta Sig-ina Phi sororities. She has been a receptionist at the W. A. Sheaf-fer Pen Company.The bridegroom attended St.Bridget’s school and wras a telegraphy student at the vocational school in Minneapolis.After a honeymoon in Colorado, Mr. and Mrs. Pumarlo will be at home after November 1 at 309* Eighth street, S.
