II., by being crushed in the j elevator at Hotel Rockingham.Jones, with W. A. Grover of Dover,! bridge engineer of New Hampshire, rnd Commander E. H. Brownell, U. S.N., representing the government, were to have a conference with F. C. Wolf and Oscar B. Coblentz, both |bridge designers from Baltimore, concerning the construction of the new interstate bridge.The men were leaving the top floor of the hotel and all, with the exception of Jones, had boarded the elevator when the operator, believing that all were on, started the car.After the elevator had stalled,1Jones made an effort to get in, but he was caught in such a manner that his head was crushed. In trying to push Jones out of the car, Coblentz’ right arm was crushed and he was removed to the Portsmouth hospital, where his condition is serious.Mr. Jones was graduated from the United States Naval academy at Annapolis in 1894, but he never entered | ] the naval service. He was widelyknown as a bridge engineer. He is survived by a wife and daughter.BURIAL AT ST. MARYS.
