It not only goes a long way in establishing authentic background for motion pictures, but it also has been translated into a huge goodwill gesture. It is a costly process, adds thousands more to the expense of a picture, but it wins friends for the movies and excites an unusual Interest in thescreen. Missouri is having a similar experience in the filming of “Jesse James” by 20th Century-Fox.During the last year and a half, the middle part of the United States has had more recognition than ever before. % Cecil B. De-Mille’s “Buccaneer” company went to Louisiana for material, and to Nebraska for data on “Union Pacific,” which he’ll no doubt premiere in the state whether any of the film ia shot here or not. Paramount sent another company to Texas for “The Texans.” MGM is considering another group in Nebraska, near Valentine, for the making of “Sea of Grass.” “Arkansas Traveler” will be premiered in Little Rock, Ark., with its stars present in person.It is pleasant to a mid-westerner to learn that Hollywood recognizes the possibility of there being another movie location, besides New York and Hollywood. The recog-appreciativeness—at the boxoffice, where the movie makers like it.Fred Waring and his outfit, including Donne Dae (Donna Rae Cooper), opened on radio, Oct. 8.Letter from Ted 1 Cooper, her L father, says they spent most of the summer at Shawnee Country club, in Pennsylvania, where j they worked ? s t e a d ily day after day lining up program ideas for this fall and winter. Ted says Don Purviance, who DONNA RAE used to sax up COOPER Lincoln bands 8 or 9 years ago, has joined the Waring group, and his tenor tooting may be featured. So, Lincoln has two hooks in the Fred Waring ensemble.
