OLIVER—ROCHEPowersconrt, Manuels, was the scene of a quiet but very pretty wedding on Wednesday, Oct. 6th, when Miss Gertrude Oliver, daughter of Mrs. Carter, of Topsail, was united in the holy bonds of matrimony with ! Mr. Philip Roche, of Brigus. The bride was very prettily attired in a ■ handsome dress of grey silk with hat and veil to match and grey fox fur, the gift of the groom; she also carried a magnificent bouquet. The bride was attended by Mias Winnie Duff, who wore a dress of navy blue silk with black picture hat; the flower girl, little Miss Gertrude Carter, looked very dainty in white silk. The groom was attended by Mr. AlbanI Duff. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Fr. Kelly. After the ceremony a dainty supper was served at the home of the bride’s mother. The health of the young couple was proposed by Mr. Lloyd Fowler and responded to by the groom in very happy terms. At 6.30 the happy young I couple left by motor for the railway J station where they joined the train J for Carbonear where the honeymoon t will be spent. The groom’s present S to the bride was a birthstone pin and I to the bridesboy a gold stick pin.
