Chitty, Simmons unite in marriageCatherine Jane Outty of 1019-A Kings Way became the bride of Eugene Street Simmons of Siler City at 4 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Thomas M. Denton officiating and the Rev. John Goodyear of Pompano Beach, Fla., assisting. £The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Malcolm Reid Chittv of 1312wGreen Springs Road.The bridegroom is the son of Candace Street Simmons of Glendon and the late Calvin Albert Simmons.Nuptial music was presented by organist Mrs. Andrew W. Fuller, pianist Dorian G. Dixon and vocalist James Robert Gart er Jr.Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a gown of white bridal satin and Alencon lace embroidered with seed pearls and iridescent sequins and extended into a cathedral-length train. Her blusher and cathedral-length veil of illusion and Alencon lace were attached to a bandeau of Alencon lace embroidered with seed pearls and sequins and she earned a bouquet of white bridal roses. English ivy and stephanotis.Caroline Susan Outty of Winston-Salem was her sister s maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Marcia Lynn Blackburn of Raleigh Amy Ixiuann Henderson of Charlotte, Amy Railey Johnson of Chapel Hill. Lynne Cannon Johnson of Carrboro, Mrs. Reginald Sheldon Lynch Jr. of Raleigh, Mrs. Roger Keith Mallard and Mrs. Thomas Ray McDaniel, both of New Bern, and Mrs Gregory Neil Nelson of Clayton Honorary bridesmaid.-, were Jenny Lee Johnson of Chapel Hill, Polly Beth Johnson of Conway and LisaEllen Acanfora of Wilmington.Calvin Albert Simmons Jr. of Greensboro, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Richard Kenneth Carter of Fairfax. Va., Malcolm Reid Chitty Jr. of Wilmington, brother of the bride, John Michael Day of Chapel Hill, Mark Thurman Halton of High Point, Benjamin Coleman Howard of Wilmington, Douglas Gorman Pitts of Glen Alpine, Daniel Rex Wall of Siler City and Charles William Wolfe of Sanford were ushers.Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents entertained at a reception at their Green Springs Road home, which overlooks the Neuse River. The Daniel Flannery Band provided music. Assisting with the reception were friends of the bride’s family and members of the bride’s mother's bridge clubThe bridal couple left by boat for a honeymoon trip to Grand Cayman Island.The bride and bridegroom received degrees from the School of Pharmacy, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, She is is employed as a pharmacist with Rite Aid Corp. and he is a pharmacist at Chatham County Hospital, SUer City,On Oct. 2, Mr. and Mrs. JohnRichard Railey, grandparents of the bride, and the bridegroom’s mother entertained at a rehearsal dinner at the Sheraton Hotel and Marina.
