Carolyn Porter, Floyd Searcy Jr., Exchange Vows In Church CeremonyMiss Carolyn Porter and Floyd Searcy Jr., exchanged wedding vows Saturday afternoon in the First Baptist Church in a setting of greenery accented by white blossoms and burning candles.Magnolia branches banked the wall and choir rail, forming a background for a central arrangement of white chrysanthemums placed before a fifteen-branched candelabrum holding white tapers. A nine-branched candelabrum was at each side. Family pews were marked withivy.The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Porter and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Searcy. Tne Rev. Louis Kennedy officiated atthePreceding the exchange of vows Miss Charlotte Porter, sister of the. bride, sang ‘“The Lord’s Prayer”, and during the ceremony, “O Perfect Love.” Mrs. S.W. Fleming was organist. Candles were lighted by Wick Searcy and John Frank Searcy.Attending the bride were Miss Doris Starling, Gulfport, Miss., maid of honor, and Misses Shelba Gandy, Atlanta, and Barbara Harrison, bridesmaids. Floyd Searcy was best man for his son. Ushers were Rodman Porter, brother of the bride, Bruce Cherry, Ashbum Searcy, John Lake Roberts, Frank Pidcock of Moultrie and Willie Roberts.WORE TURQUOISEMcLeod Studjo PiiotoMR. AND MRS. FLOYD SEARCY JR.The bride’s attendants wore gowns of turquoise crystalette designed with scooped necklines, fitted bodices and crushed cummerbunds concluding in butterfly tows in back. Full skirts were ballerina length. Their ruffled headbands and satin pumps were dyed to match the dresses. Miss Starling carried a cascade of pale yellow fujii chrysanthemums and the bridesmaids had similar bouquets of creamy white blossoms.While lace over taffeta was |)chosen for the bridal gown. It was fashioned with a long sleeved, bolero length jacket and flaring skirt of ballerina length. A shoulder length veil was caught to a small, fitted cap, sewn with pearls, which dipped to .points hi front and on the sides. Shoes were of wMte satin.the old Aucilla Plantation on the Boston Road.PARTIES HELDEvents preceding the wedding included a bridesmaid’s luncheon held by Miss Barbara Harrison in the Hotel' Scott on Saturday. White pompon chrysanthemums and pink asters in a silver bowl formed table decor. They were accented by white candles in silver holders.The bride was presented with a gift of crystal in her pattern.Guests, in addition to womenmembers of the wedding party, include Mrs. J. W. Peacock, Mrs. E. B. Porter, Mrs. T. F. Callaway. Mrs. Louis F. Kennedy, Mrs. Fritz Roberts, Miss Charlotte Porter, Mrs. John Lake Roberts, Miss Mimi Roberts, Mrs. W. M. Searcy, Jr., Mrs.’ Edward Porter and Mrs. Floyd Searcy.At the same time Floyd Searcy entertained at the Elks Club for men in the wedding party and Edward Porter, Frank Roberts, Col. Frank Searcy anfl Fritz Roberts.Another event preceding theTho bride carried a white Bible, a gift from Miss Shelba. Searcy of Cairo, great 1 grandmother of the bridegroom, and carried by a number of lt;brides in the Searcy family. Her ] only jewelry was a silver brace-• 1 let, a gift from the bridegroom. ' Mr. Porter gave his daughter in marriage. 1The bride’s mother wore a ] dress of gray shadow lace over 1 pink with a pleated skirt. Her : hat was pink and she carried 1 a bag of iridescent sequins. She ) had a corsage of pink and white , orchids.Mrs. Searcy wore a golden i bege sheer dress with rhine- ’ stones scattered on the bodice 1 top and flared skirt. Her hat 1 was fashioned of tiny bronze \ petals and she carriea a bag of ‘ bronze; beads. Rose-bronze orchids I formed her corsage. ■,RECEPTION HELD 1A reception followed in the \ Legion Home. The guest book \ placed in the foyer, was in charge * of Mrs. Cyrus Mallard. It was c placed on a table ornamented 1 with ivy. Elshwhere in the room i were arrangements of butterfly * lilies and white carnations.The bride’s table, which was in \ the main hall, stood before a * background of magnolia foliage. \ The table was covered with a t cloth of embroidered white or- i #andy bordered in lace, placed £ ygg a yellow lining. The four ( Htted white cake, ornamented I with yellow roses and green leaves, was placed between; ar- v rangements of butterfly lilies and alba plena camellias, behind fc which stood massive embossed r silver candelabra hoding whits o tapers. tA white organdy and lace cloth 1: covered the table which held the t silver punch bowl. Punch was served ny s Miss Mimi' Roberts and Miss -Carole Franklin. Others assisting were Mr. J. C. Scott and Miss Adeline Moller.'The couple departed bn a wedding, trip to Florida. For travel-ing the bride selected a gray cotton tweed dress with bolero jacket and gray and white striped vest. Her white feather hat had seed pearls tipping the quill of each feather.
