Mr. and Mrs. Panl Reising Celebrate the Fiftieth Anniversary of Their Marriage Tuesday, 11th inst.Paul Reising, proprietor of the Reising and Co.’s brewery, and wife celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of tbeir marriage Tuesday. At St. Mary’s Catholic church, of which both have been communicants for many years, solemn high mass was held in honor of the occasion.Paul Reising was born at Hoerstein^ county of Algenan. Bavaria, October 5, 18111, his father, Francis Reising, being an extensive landed proprietor. After attending the best schools of the country until he was fourteen years old, he was apprenticed to one of the breweries for which Bavaria is famous, and thorough-I ly learned the business of making beer. October 35, 1842, be was married to Miss Susan Htadtmiller, then twenty-one years of age, and a native and resident of Hoer-stein. In 1854 they emigrated to America and settled in Louisville, where Mr. Reising engaged in the brewing business. Two years later he caine to New' Albany where he purchased a small common beer brewery, located on Upper Main street and long since destroyed by fire. Four years later he purchased at Sheriff's sale the plant on Lower Fourth street, then of small proportions, but which under his skillful management during over thirty years has increased until the buildings cover nearly half a block, and are filled with every known appliance for the successful manufacture of beer. Mr. Reising lias in the years he has Ireen operating his brewery accumulated a handsome competence, and is now the wealthiest German in New Albany. Although a careful man of business, he has ever been foremost in every work that tended to advance the prosperity of his adopted city, and no worthy and deserving case of poverty or distress has been turned awav by him unrelieved.Mrs. Reising is also noted for her charity and benevolence, and both are deservedly popular with a very large circle of friends and acquaintances. Nine children were born of the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Reising. Of these but two are living, Mrs. Catherine Hipp and Mrs. Mary Ann Kistner.Despite the burden of over seventy years, both the old people are hale and hearty.Their large circle of warm frienda wish for them many yeara of congenial companionship.
