WEDDINGChoates—Oket _A very pretty wedding took place on Wednesday, September 24, when Beryl Oke, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hedley Oke, Darlington, was united in marriage with Mr. Carman Choates, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Choates, Oshawa, at Centre St. United Church Parsonage, Rev. W. P. Fletcher, D. D„ officiating.The bride was becomingly gowned in beige georgette and lace, carrying a bouquet of autumn flowers, and was attended by Miss Georgina Healey. Mr. Walter Allen was groomsman.After the ceremony, a number of guests sat down to a sumptuous wedding supper at the home of the bride’s parents in Darlington. The house was artistically decorated with asters and other autumn flowers. Afterwards the bride and groom left amid showers of good wishes and congratulations for a honeymoon in Toronto.On Monday afternoon, September 22nd, Miss Allie Worden gave a kit-. chen shower in honor of her cousin, the bride-to-be, at the home of her , parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wor-,!den, Ebenezer, when about twent j friends of Miss Oke were present. During the afternoon, little Fay Found and Eileen Pickell, dressed as bride and groom, the latter in a vel-! vet Lord Norfolk suit, entered the [ room carrying a basket of useful , articles, which they laid at the feet of the bride-to-be, who unwrapped , each parcel, reading aloud the humorous and apt verse which accompanied each one.
