Investigators seek clues in Yuma woman's deathThe murder of Dorothy Smock, 52. still has Yuma police stumped, and two other weekend shooting incidents are under investigation.The latest developements in the weekend shootings are:• An autopsy was scheduled today to determine the cause of death of Mrs. Smock, whose body was found in a back room of her business. Solar Energy Systems Inc.,‘201 W. 17th St.• Debra Diann llaley, 23. of 598 1st Ave.. who is suspected of killing a man at a local disio. was being held in Yuma County Jail this morning after being arraigned on a murder charge• James Milton, 29. of 1533 11th Ave., who was shot by police Friday, was reported in serious but stabh condition in the Yuma Regional Medical Center intensive care unit this morning.In addition to the cause, police hope to learn the time of Mrs. Smock’s death. Her body was found at about 7:30 p.m., but the time she went to the business to work on the books isn’t known. Her husband Joseph, who found her body, had gone to work at 6 a.m. and said he wasn’t sure when she left.Police reported she was seen shortly before I p.m. Saturday at u local drugstore. That’s the latest time anyone who has contacted police saw her alive.Anyone who saw her after that or anyone who can offer any other clues is asked to call Detective Richard Stallworth at 783-4422.from the outside. Ms. Haley was arraigned before Court Commissioner Jerrold Shelley, who ordered her held without bond She is suspected of shooting a 23-year old man from YPG at the Twilight Zone Disco, 914 4th Ave.The name of the victim hadn’t been released as of this morning because his wife, who is believed to be in Oklahoma, hadn't been notifiedCharges hudn't been filed this morning against Milton, the inun who shot by police outside his parents’ home at 1533 11th Ave. Police said Milton came out the door with a pistol in his hand when he was shot twice by officers who had surrounded the house.Milton, who worked at various packing sheds, had been holed up inside the house for nearly an hour while police tried to talk him into giving up peacefully.But police said Milton answered the pleas to surrender with another shot. After a third shot was fired from inside the house. Milton came running out with a revolver in one hund and a can of beer in the other.Two officers reported seeing * Milton fire the pistol, and police answered with a volley of shots from at least six officers.IMROTH Y SMOCKPolice say they have very few clues in the murder.Mrs. Smock, also a fourth grade teacher, was tied with duct tape. Police said she apparently suffocated. The tape was wrapped completely around her face from her chin to her huirline.
