Whistler Skips Out in Answer to an Advertisement of “ Wanted, a Wife ”—Seeking a New Husband and Home.u Gone with a handsome man, well that aint much to say. ”It seems to be a good deal to say in this case, however, and t he latest developments go to show that the skippingout of Mrs. C. C. Whistler as mentioned in The Times of last week Is a little more interesting than it was at first supposed to be. Of Mr. Whistler we need say nothing: he Is known in the county unlimitedly and others are as equally qualified to judge him as is The Times It was eight years ago when Mrs. Whistler—mother of Will and Clarence—died and four years ago Mr. Whistler met and married Mrs. Zilphla Agniel at Independence, Kansas, Mrs. Aguiei had a daughter named Maud. After the marriage Mr. Whistler took his wile to his home at Rockfield, where they have resided since. Mrs. Whistler wasa,tall lady, rather prepossessing aud was fondof dress. She had a penchant for the masculine aud preferred the company of men. She was rather bold and was not slow to make a desired acquaintance. This beiug the case it would notbe wondered that their married life did not prove to be one of unmarred bliss. None of their married life was above pleasantness, but about a year ago it is said that she began to “talk about him” to the neighbors and she seemt-d to lose her respect for him and treated him veryshabbily. This lasted, growing worseeach day, until September 11, wbeu Mrs Whistler ami daughter disappeared from home. Before leaving she slipped a bos of household goods from the house and shipped them to Bock Island where a sister resides. Whistler was anxious to find her and made inquiries at Bock Islaud about her, but they resulted in finding no trace of her. The matter rested at this stage for a tipae aud thent by letter, it was learned that Mrs* Whistler was keeping house for a niau named H. Baker at Carpentersville, III. She bad gone back to her former name and called herself Mrs. Aguiei to correspond with the name of her daughter, who resided with her.
