MR. AND MRS. WILLIAM MATTHEWSMatthews Celebrate 50th AnniversarySTEUBENVILLE - Mr. and Mrs. William Matthews of Bantam Ridge Road, RD 2, Steubenville, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary recently during a buffet dinner in New Alexandria Community Chapel. The event was given in their honor by their children.The couple was married Nov. 21,1934, in Wheeling by the Rev. Paul Vispar.Mrs. Matthews is the daughter of the late Hayes and Xenia Wilburn and Matthews is the son of the late William Morgan and Mrytle Matthews.Matthews is a retired Boich Mining employee and a member of Mingo Sportsman’s Club. Both belong to Bloomingdale Church of God.The couple has four sons, Donald of Washington, Pa., David of Smithfield, Calvin of Bellaire and Ronald of Wintersville and three daughters, Dorothy Dehnart of Rochester, Ind., Betty Ruttencutter of Bloomingdale and Joyce Rine of New Alexandria. The couple also has 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
