Bates-Hembree Marriage SolemnizedThe marriage of Miss Dorothy Nell Bates, daughter of Mrs. M. A Bates and Dorsey “Doc” Hembree, son of Mr. and Mrs B F. Hembree, was performed Friday evening, Nov. 22 at the First Methodist church, with Dr. Fagan Thompson reading the vows at 6:00 o’clock.Presenting the wedding music, was Mrs. Melvm Hyatt of Athens, Ala, with Mrs. Cecil Workman singing “Because”, “I Love You Truly” and “Prayer Perfect”.The church was decorated with palms and baskets of white gladioli. Mrs. Hubert A. Grissom, sister of the groom, lighted the tapers in seven-branched candelabra.The bride, given in marriage by her brother, wore a blue suit with black accessories and a hat of pink feathers. She carried a white prayer book, showered with white carnations and streamers of white satin ribbon.Mrs G. A Morris, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. She wore a blue suit with black accessories and a corsage of white carnations. Patty Lou Patrick acted as junior bridesmaid, wearing a pink dress and blue carnations in her hair.Buell Hembree, brother of .the groom, was best 'man, and Hubert Grissom, Jr., was the ring bearer.Following a wedding trip to Florida, the couple will be at home in Cullman.
