Angela Spurgeon, Thomas Hopwood wedAngela Jo Spurgeon and Thomas Derk Hopwood were united in marriage on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 1:30 p.m. at the Burlington Faith Church of Christ with Steve Cole officiating at the double ring, candlelight ceremony.Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence J. Spurgeon, Rt. 2, Flora and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas M. Hopwood, Kokomo.Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a floor length gown of ivory satin which was fashioned with a high neckline trimmed in lace. Her bridal bouquet featured silk ivory roses with lavender and purple freesia, zinnias and almond blossoms with babies breath. She wore a coordinating silk tiara which was attached to her veil.Karol Yeager, Ohio, was matron of honor with Kathy Ledlow, Florida, and Laura Swartz, Kokomo, serving as bridesmaids. Emily Yates, niece of the bride, andMichael Yates, nephew of the bride, Camden, were flower girl and ring bearer respectively.Best man was Greg Eller, Flora, with Steve Dimitt, Flora, and Michael Hopwood, Kokomo, brother of the groom, acting as groomsmen. Ushers included Eric and Brian Hopwood, both of Kokomo, brothers of the groom, and Mark Spurgeon, Indianapolis, brother of the bride.Ada Johnson was organist with Pam England as soloist. A reception was held at the church with Rachel Yates and Theresa Herron as hostesses.A 1978 graduate of Carroll High School, the bride graduated from International Business College in 1979- and is employed by Meis Department Store in Marion.The groom is a 1974 graduate of Western High School and is employed by American States Insurance Company in Marion.Kenneth Moore photo
