BER 22, 1907.A DOUBLE SURPRISE.Lfztoa Copple Give* Hot Reception on Arriving Hone Proa Elopement.44Last Friday morning Miss Mabel Shockley pretended to have important business and went to Indianapolis. She was followed Saturday morning by Mr. Earl Thompson, where they procured marriage license and planned 10 give the home folks a little surprise. But unfortunately the 4 marriage license notice was printed in some of the Indianapolis daily papers and read Saturday night by many of their astonished friends at home in Liz-ton who planned a little surprise for them. They were quietly married in Indianapolis Sunday at 2 o’clock and came home arriving at Lizton at 5 o’clock, where they were met at the in-terurban station by a crowd of young people and given a rice shower and then placed on a plank and carried home. The boys gave the plank the “ocean wave” swing and they declared it a rocky ride. The bride balked a few times but she was placed back on the plank and compelled to continue her free bridal ride. They were given a cheerful greeting at Mr. Thompson’s home by the “old folks” of both families and a number of relatives and friends. The bride is the daughter of A. E, Shockley, north of Lizton, and the groom the son of Mr. George Thompson, of Lizton. The runaways have the well wishes of their many friends through their wedded life.1•«44
