East Hampton is interested to hear of the marriage on October 20, at Coldstream, Scotland, of Mrs. Malcolm D. Sloane, widow of Mr. Sloane, one 'of the three sons of Mrs. Henry White by her marriage to the late William Douglas Sloane, to Albert Dermont Smith, portrait painter, of New York and East Hampton.The New York Herald Tribune says:The news will come as a surprise to society generally, although the families knew of the engagement and expected the wedding would take place at this time abroad. The bride, formerly Miss Elinor Lee, is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Loe.Mrs. Sloane, whose husband died December 6, 1924, has a house at Sands Point, Port Washington, and last winter lived at 470 Park avenue. This summer she took Milne Garden House, at Coldstream, and passed the season there, having relatives and friends with her most of the time. Mrs. Smith did not inform the families here of any additional facts as to the wedding, but it is known that she and her husband will return to New York soon to make their home.Th8 bride is a sister of the John W. Lee, who married Miss Mary Carter and lives at 168 East Seventy-fourth Street; of Lowell Mason Lee, whose wife was Miss Mabel L. Kidney; of Marian Whitney Lee, who married Miss Helen L. Dudgeon and lives at Great Neck, and of Mrs. William F. Ladd, of Cedarhurst, the former Miss Cornelia Lee. She is a member of the New York Junior League.She was married to Mr. Sloane June 3, 1915. The wedding was one of the most interesting of the year, with many of his Vanderbilt relatives present. His mother was iOss Emily T. Vanderbilt before her marriage to Mr. Sloane, and he was a brother of Mrs. James A. Burden, jr.. Mrs. John Henry Hammond and Mrs. William B. Osgood Field. He had been graduated from Yale in 1907 and was a member of many clubs.Mr. Smith has had a studio at 58 West Fifty-seventh Street, and another at East Hampton. He has painted many portraits of men and women of soaiety, and has exhibited at various shows.
