Sewall pays $2 per day to some of his shipyard employes.THE WEDDING.The dark, disagreeable evening of yesterday made a fitting back ground to the brilliant festivities over which the fashion of Bath have been excited during the week past, for Us soni-broness heightened by contrast the brightness of the Boughton-Manson wedding. Our quiet streets at an early hour of the evening sounded the roll of carriages conveying guests to the Central church, and crowds of the curious filled the avenues leading to the scene of interest, anxious for a glimpse of the bridal party and a sight of the fashionable costumes over which so many of the Bath belles have spent busy moments of midnight hours. At tlie church, half an hour previous to the entrance of the bridal cortege, fxth floor and galleries were filled and the interval was made less tedious by the organ concert of Mrs. Horatio Duncan. At 8.00 o’clock the enlivening music of the “Wedding March” announced the arrival of the awaited party, which passed up the aisle in this order: Six ushers. J. F. llayden, Wm. Shaw, J. Nichols, R. O. Morse. F. Hawthorne, F. Owen: bridesmaids, Misa Jennio Munson, Miss Louisa Crook, Portland, Miss Clara Kendrick, Miss Ernestine Houghton; groomsmen, F. Houghton, F. Randall, New York, J. Meeker, Montreal, F. Jones, New' York; groom, Mr. H. D. Manson with Mrs. Virginia Ricker; bride, Miss Clara E. Houghton and father Arriving at the altar the party formed about the altar and the marriage ceremony was pleasingly performed by the pastor, Rev. Wm. E. Richards. As the bridal party passed down the aisle theSucsts had time to appreciate the tasteful floral ecorations of the church. About the pillars were twined evergreen, and botw'een, festoons of the same. Pendant before the altar was a marriage bell of green with mono pram “H-M” in white with vines of smilax. and in front lighted candles; to the right and left baskets and bouquets of rare dowers. The body of the house was devoted to invited guests who represented the wealth, beauty and fashion of this and other cities, than which never was a more brilliant assemblage in the old church. The reception occurred immediately after the service at the church, at the residence of the brido's father, Warren Houghton, Esq., South street, and was between the hours of ‘J and 11. The mansion and grouuds adjoining were gaily decorated with Chinese globes ana lanterns, while the house itself was a blaze of light. The whole of the floral decoration was the work of Dirwauger of Portland, and caused the admiration unstinted of all. The parlors had been transformed into a luxuriant summer garden and the walls were hid by smilax and rose columns, festoons and arches, with bouquets and baskets of rare exotics in every resting place A novel idea which showed great taste, was floral balls pendant from the ceiHne.
