They spent their honeymoon in Chicago The wedding had been planned for November 2 at the First Baptist church of this city, but was changed when the groom coukl not come here.The young people were married at the First Baptist Church at South Bend, Indiana, on October 31. Rev. C. Clayton Browne, pastor, performed the ceremony in the reception suite of the church.The bride, the former Lillian Yates, was attended by Mrs. Frank R. Broaddus of Chicago, and given marriage by her mother, Mrs.E. Yates of this city. Ensign Baird of St. Paul, Minn., served best man.The bride’s wedding dress wa-fashioned of white mousseline lt;U sole worn over white satin, with lace - trimnusi round neck andpuff'd sleeve*. Baby tucks gnth-ered the waist into a snug-fitting girdle. The voluminous -ix-Uereti skirt was luce-trimmed, with lace banding separating the tiers, and measured 27 yards at the hem. He r finger-tip veil of illusion was held in place with u bandeau of white rose-buds ami her colonial bouquetwas of white rosebuds. She wore a strand of pearls, gift of her parents.Mrs. Broaddus wore a gold dress with a corsage of wisteria asters; Mrs. Yates, fuschia, with talisman roses, ami Mrs. Jewel Austin, mother of the groom, wore blue with pink roses.Mr. Broaddus and daughter, Patricia, attended the ceremony,Mrs. Austin's going-away dres* was of natural color sheer wool with a spray of gold sequins at the waist and was worn with brown shoes, bag and hat and gloves ofnatural color doeskin.Both Ensign and Mrs. Austin have grown up in Stamford and graduated from Stamford High school. Mrs. Austin is an honor graduate* of the University of Texas. She taught school at Tuxedo and at Sagerton. Ensign Austin received his B. B. A. degreefrom Haadin-Simmons University, Abilene, and his Master of Science degree from the University of Indiana at Bloomington, Ind. He was employed in Memphis, Tenn., New Orleans, I«a., and Bisbee, Aris., before he resigned to enter Naval Officers Training at Notre Dame University and Northwestern University.
