50th wedding anniversaryWilliam and Olga Drohomereski - Married Nov. 1st, 1936On Saturday, August 30, 1986 William and Olga Drohomereski of Winnipeg Beach celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. About 200 family and friends were present for a dinner and dance held in their honor at the Matlock Recreational Hall.Grace was said by their nephew Merlin Demery of Winnipeg. The evening was then emceed by their nephew Rayomond Demery also of Winnipeg who introduced the head table and gave a speech on the couple’s life on their farm in Pleasant Home and Winnipeg Beach.The lovely meal was catered by Baker Boy Caterers from Selkirk and the musical entertainment was by Peter Piklvk and his band from Winnipeg. The highlight of the evening was the ‘Anniversary Song5 sung to them by their 10-year-old granddaughter Krystal Drohomereski.Greetings from various government officials were read as well as touching speeches from their daughter Eve Anderson, granddaughter Darlene Nelson, ringbearer Merlin Demery, and flowergirl Sylvia Kusmider.The couple was blessed with three children. Daughter Eve Anderson and husband Alex of Regina, sons Richard and wife Gaii of Winnipeg, Murray and wife Ellen of Winnipeg Beach. Five grandchildren Lyle and Grant Anderson, Darlene Nelson, Deborah and Krystal Drohomereski.Eight great-grandchildren Brian, Adam and Amanda Anderson, Darrell, Melanie and Brent Anderson, Miranda and Brennan Nelson.Olga and William DrohomereskiOut-of-town guests were from Regina, Sask., Yellowknife, N.W.T., Fort Frances, Ont.,Thunder Bay, Ont., Sacremento, California as well as various areas of rural Manitoba and Winnipeg.William and Olga thank their children for organizing this memorable occasion and are grateful to all who helped them celebrate this special day on Saturday and the yard party on Sunday, making it a success. Thank you to Merlin Drohomereski for making a video of the anniversary party. Many thanks to everyone who sent the lovely gifts and cards.
