McLanahan-Playter Wedding.Charles Milford McLanahan, the Paige automobile dealer in this locality, and Miss Ethel Play ter, a well known young lady of this city, took their friends by surprise Sunday by motoring to Alton and being united in wedlock at the Upper Alton Methodist church at 3 o’clock. Rev. Theo. Cates, formerly pastor of the First Methodist church in this city, said the impressive ring ceremony that made the happy couple man and wife. Mrs. Alvin Davis acted as matron of honor and Miss GraceMincer as bridesmaid, while Alvin Davis served as best man and Henry Duval as groomsman. The bride looked lovely in a wedding gown of blue silk and she wore a corsage of pink and white roses and a becoming hat of brown.The bridal party returned to this city and partook of an elegant wedding dinner served at the home of the groom’s mother, Mrs. Zoella McLanahan on Clay street and which consisted of all the delicacies of the season. The dining room was profusely decorated in pink carnations, pink, green and white crepe paper and looked beautiful. A reception followed in the evening and was a very pleasant affair. Dancing was indulged in, music being furnished by Roy Sauer on the violin, Miss Grace Mincer piano and Henry Duval song whistle, and the ever welcome Vic-trola proved highly entertaining.
