Yesterday,Just three weeks later, Shiels was De-fore the same Judge on the charge ofassaulting his wife, lie entered a pleaof not guilty and the hearing of the case was set for the 15th inst. Theassault v\au not a serious one and, in fai t, wus llttl** inure than a family disturbance. Shiels says he was drunk, or it never would have happened. He was unable to furnish bonds and will have to lie in jail until the day of trial, unless some one comes to his relief, or the wife relents and refuses to prosecute. The couple had known each other 24 hours when they decided to get married.The only other case before Judge Boyle yesterday was that of a man who gave the somewhat familiar alias of John Doe. He had created a disturbance. The Judge fined hint $10 on hisconfessing the offense. He didn't have the money and he will stay In jail five days.f\1
