MRS. FURMANDeath Claims Director of ‘Pink Ladies'Mrs. Richard (Eleanor) Furman, 71, of 2302 N. De Leon St., died at 6 p.m. Saturday in a local hospital following an extended illness.Mrs. Furman, widow of the late Richard Furman, civic leader, former chamber of commerce official and longtime sparkplug of the drive for Victoria Barge Canal, was coordinator of the Volunteer Services (Pink Ladies) at Citizens Memorial Hospital for many years.She had been a resident of Victoria since 1947 and was born Oct. 1, 1902 in Corpus Christi, to the late Judge W B. and Edna Halsey Hopkins.Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 10 a.m. from St. Francis Episcopal Church with the Rev. Rayford High officiating.Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery in Corpus Christi, with McCabe-Carruth Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.If friends so desire contributions may be made to thePink Ladies organization of Citizens Memorial Hospital orto St. Francis Episcopal Church.Survivors include a daughter.
