Dillingham celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of their wedding, Thursday, from 7 to 12 o'clock, at their had some residence on Main street. Aside from its being one of the most elegant entertainments ever given in Richmond, it was the joyful occasion of a large gatheringof the oldest residents in Madison countv. More than three hundred handsomely engraved invitations were sent out, and the house was crowded to its fullest capacity.Mrs. Dillingham, nee Miss Margaret Yates, was married to Mr. H. B. Rillinghan, then a prominent young business man of this county, just fifty years ago, at the home of Mr. Elijah Yates, father of the bride, six miles from Richmond, Ky. In this day of tine turnpike roads and elegant ecpiipages of every kind, it is hard to realize that fifty years ago there were but four ‘‘coaches'* in this county, and at this typical Madison county wedding there was not a vehicle, the guests coming from miles around on horseback with their best garments in “carpet bag,” swung to the pommels of their saddles.Mr. and Mrs. Dillingham were assisted in receiving their guests by Mrs. Mary Stockton, who as Miss Curtis, was bridesmaid to the venerable couple, their only daughter, Re lie Rayburn,! and their granddaughters, the Misses Chenault and ltavburn. * %Ll *wThe floral decorations were very beautiful, ttie entire lower floor being a perfect symphony^ n yellow. Chrysanthemums and smilax were the flowers used in the handsome double parlors, and in the dining room, a profusion of yellow roses,smilax and handsome yellow satin riblxm, even the table service and many of the dainties* carried out their golden wedding idea.
